Partnerships

We seek partnerships with entities that reflect our values and complement our strengths.

Meena is an NGO founded by our colleague MK Rahima as an organic evolution of several streams of work that originate in Tammey's projects (check the story of the name \ link to meena video):

  1. We have always dreamed of developing an Arabic-first social network for our community of development workers to continue to interact and exchange ideas & opportunities without the constraints and manipulation of the big global platforms. We even attempted to do that back in 2014.
  2. We have always considered Professionalizing Youthwork in the region a central strategic goal that we strive to contribute to on different levels of the eco-system.
  3. We have been working hard on developing the body of knowledge needed to elevate the current understanding and practices of youthwork in the Arab region.
  4. Since we became an international virtual team in 2019 (a little before the pandemic) we started investing in our first online learning platform as a means to manage our research work remotely and build capacities of young researchers that are part of the project.
As a natural result of these streams, and as the opportunity and will intersected in 2022 to put these streams in a single hub, we launched Meena to be independent from Tammey, and registered it as an NGO in the Netherlands, rebuilt its website to higher standards of performance and functionality and developed its suit of service to take the vision even further. We chose to register it in a European country to be closer to our community of youthworkers who graduated or neighbored Tammey at some point but have migrated to Europe to neighbor youthworkers there as well, and take from their experiences and attitudes what may enrich our endeavor with new perspectives. Tammey & Meena continue to work in close tandem in building learning resources, implementing development projects and empowering youthworkers to stretch towards the professionalization we all need.

We have always discussed youth spaces as a necessary but absent component in the ecosystem of youth development and have had a few attempts in the past to develop youth spaces (See Mesaha & Tammey's office). The opportunity came in ---- to partner with ActionAid to make this dream a reality, and we took an amazing journey in conceptualizing and building Liwan as a youth-led space until its managerial and financial independence in ---- as a registered NGO in Jordan. Now, Liwan continues to be a leading youth space in the region, providing a courageous model and sustaining itself by ---- . Tammey is proud to continue its partnership with Liwan as mentors, but also as service providers as Liwan contracted Tammey & Meena in 2023 to develop and deliver a set of online courses for youth workers and volunteers in a project led by Liwan in refugee camps in Jordan.

In an attempt to create a fair social system, Ezzwiti (as a non-profit restaurant) was established in 2015 in Amman/Jordan. Ezzwiti initiative aims to achieve the values of social and economic solidarity among all •members of society, Ezzwiti has created innovative ways to support those in need and promote the principles of cooperation. "Al-Azem - The inviter" pays for the price of a meal for someone they do not know and hangs a note on the Wall of Kindness. "Al-ma'zoom - The invitee" gets the invitation note from the board and gets the meal of their choice from the menu, prepared by a dedicated group of volunteers.
